What guests say
We came to this hotel as had a funeral to attend. As soon as we walked inside we were checked in straight away. Room was cosy and bright all cleaned well. (Spotless). Bathroom was also really clean. Food we had in the evening was very good staff very attentive. Friendly well dressed. Morning we went to have Breakfast again lady was so nice when we arrived saw us to our table asked us did we want tea or coffee. Then told us about what was to eat. She came back to take our order. I had Eggs Benedict. Which was really very nice. My husband had a full cumbrian Breakfast which he enjoyed. The funeral next day at the reception the Buffet food was amazing and plenty of it. Well done. We will definitely be coming back also recommend to family and friends. Thank you.👍🙂💐

For the price, the venue does earn its stars. I reported small issues in the room and they were rectified immediately. The staff on reception were really pleasant and accommodating. The reception being a normal sized desk made the place even more inviting and homely. The hotel is very clean and neat. The spaces to sit quietly are very welcoming with all types of chairs to suit all comforts. We didn't book dinner or breakfasts beforehand but were able to short notice without issue. Our twin room was a good size with very comfortable beds, a fantastic bathroom with bath and shower and luxurious under floor heating. There was a good amount of wardrobe space and plenty of hangers. The fridge and coffee machine was a really good bonus. All in all a great stay and would definitely return.

Went for Sunday lunch. Food good but service was very slow. It was not busy but we needed to chase up our drinks order twice / - took over 45mins to arrive! Great location as half way for us from our home to our son’s home. Decor lovely and seating area very airy.

Stayed in room 6 on Sunday 26th April 2026. Refreshing that booking through the hotels own website was cheaper than anywhere else, and included breakfast which the booking sites don't do, offering room only. A warm welcome from the staff and very easy check in. Room 6 had a juliet balcony looking over country fields. The room was immaculate and very well appointed, with a comfy bed. We were staying here to meet up with friends who live locally, unfortunately as it was Sunday, catering finished at 5.30 so we had an evening meal elsewhere. But we returned early evening with our friends and had a drink, all very reasonably priced. The establishment is absolutely beautiful, interior decor is stunning, the solid oak beams and dry stone walling throughout the bar, restaurant, reading areas, fireplaces is very tasteful. I think if the Fleece offered just a basic bar menu on a Sunday evening it would become a destination for eating, I think it would thrive. After a really good night's sleep, breakfast offered a cold selection, cereals and juices and the menu offered a good selection of cooked items. We opted for the full breakfast which was cooked fresh and was worth waiting for. A quick mention for the Fleece's own recipe Cumberland sausage, part of the full breakfast and was extremely flavourful. Coffee was good and refilled readily as was the toast. Lovely waitress, who,s first day it was and she did very well. Can i just say that we are well travelled and its a very long time since we wanted to take photographs of a hotel, because it was so impressive in every way. We would not hesitate in recommending The Fleece at Rulehome, we will definitely be back.
