Whitebeam
Cumberland

Whitebeam is a single-bedroom cottage on a working farm in Cumberland, one of six restored properties dotted across the estate. What sets it apart is the private path that opens straight onto Hadrian's Wall itself—the World Heritage Site runs through the grounds, so exploring the Roman fortifications and archaeological sites is genuinely a matter of stepping outside. The surrounding countryside is quiet and rural, with deer, foxes and pheasants regularly passing through.
The cottage sleeps two and contains one bathroom. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a fridge, dishwasher and microwave—enough to cook proper meals rather than just heating things up. Heating comes from a woodburning stove. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are all included. The property is yours alone during your stay, with parking on site and check-in after 3pm.
The nearby ruins of Lanercost Priory are within walking distance and have a café. This suits couples looking for a quiet base centred on history and landscape rather than facilities and activity, though it's not suitable for guests needing a cot.
