About Broadlands Hotel
Breakfast at Broadlands Hotel is served in a conservatory room that doubles as one of the property's nicest features, a bright spot to start the day before heading out into Cheltenham. There's also a lounge for settling in with a drink, giving the whole place the feel of a small, village-style guesthouse rather than a large hotel, despite its town centre setting on Clapton Row.
The 12 rooms are traditional in style and comfortable, each with an en-suite bathroom, and family rooms are available for those travelling with children. Drinks can be brought to the room, and practical extras include free WiFi, luggage storage and 24 hour reception, along with a garden for some outdoor space. Free on-site parking is a useful bonus for a central location.
Cheltenham's pubs, bars and restaurants are all within easy reach, and the surrounding area offers walking and cycling routes, golf, fishing, horse riding and watersports for those wanting to get further afield. It's a straightforward, well-placed base for exploring the town and county beyond.

I stayed here with my mom for two nights, and we had a really pleasant stay. The room was renovated, very clean, and accommodated us nicely. We had some issues with the shower, but overall, solid stay. 4 stars since it is still a basic accommodation, but for what it is, I would certainly recommend to other hikers/travelers. It’s about a 3 min walk from the hotel to the high street, and all of the restaurants and pubs. Conveniently located for sure. And the staff were very hard working, kind and welcoming. Would go back for another visit.

My partner and I booked this hotel for our 10th anniversary weekend in the Cotswolds. Unfortunately, we had an awful stay at Broadlands. Upon arrival there was a general feel of the hotel being run down, which was not a big issue. But then the room was very disappointing, the floor had clearly not been cleaned properly with previous guests’ clothes tags on the floor, the tea spoons were dirty, the bathroom had so much condensation that the walls were quite wet, and the wardrobe doors were barely hanging on. The room was very unpleasant to be in and not at all how the photos made it look. My partner and I could have gotten over this, however the bed was the most uncomfortable we have ever slept on. The mattress was incredibly bumpy and saggy and both of us had a terrible sleep and had bad back ache the following morning. Due mainly to the issues with the bed I approached the owners the following morning to inform them we were very disappointed and would not be staying for the second night as planned. I asked for a refund on the second night so that we could book a different hotel and try to enjoy the rest of our anniversary. The owner denied all the issues I pointed out, and to be honest we felt like we were being gas lit. The owner refused any compensation and was very condescending, telling me I “clearly have no idea how businesses work.” I was amazed how nasty the owners turned once I started the conversation about the poor quality of the room. This was quite honestly the worst experience we have ever had with any hospitality establishment in terms of quality and customer service. It was very unfortunate this happened on our 10th anniversary! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We have just come back from staying at broadlands hotel for our wedding anniversary. Upon arriving we were given our key and we booked our breakfast times in. We went into our annex house which was lovely and the heating was on so it was nice and cosy on arrival. There were empty milk and sugar wrappers from previous guests and it had not been replenished. I ran a bath which was lovely after we checked in after a long drive but after that we couldn't get anymore hot water. My husband was so poorly whilst we were there and he just wanted a bath or shower but we couldnt run another for the rest of our stay which was two nights. To add to this there was hair from the previous guests all round the shower head and behind the taps. When we went out for the day they came in and put some fresh towels and replenished the tea coffee and milk. Breakfast was decent very orange eggs and the greek yogurt and granola really good. The owners were very friendly, we had a great stay apart from a few minor issues and the water . Because of the water issue I would stay elsewhere next time although location it is perfect just a two minute walk to the village full of tourists. When we arrived we were so shocked at how jam packed it was in the village, although we did manage to get a table at both the Italian which is a 10/10 and smiths the burger place.

Charming on the surface, disappointing in practice. The rooms are cramped, the facilities dated, and the soundproofing essentially non-existent — you’re sharing every conversation with your neighbours whether you want to or not. Electrical sockets are scarce and awkwardly placed, the Wi-Fi is unreliable, and the showers belong in a museum. To top it off, towels aren’t changed even when visibly dirty — a basic hygiene expectation, not a luxury request. The rural character has appeal, but at this price point, charm alone isn’t enough. There are better options.
