Hook Norton sits on the edge of the Cotswolds, a village where walks begin from the doorstep and the local brewery – still Victorian – offers tours and tastings. The Old Sweet Shop is a 17th-century cottage at its heart, Grade II listed, and retains the character you'd expect: beamed ceilings, stone walls, an inglenook fireplace. Three storeys hold three bedrooms and three bathrooms, sleeping six, with the top floor doubling as a games room for younger guests. A covered patio and enclosed garden face south; there's a barbecue and furniture for sitting out.
The ground floor opens into a living and dining space with a woodburner (fuel provided), Freeview TV and DVDs. The kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave and full laundry facilities. Upstairs, two double bedrooms – each convertible to twins – have ensuite showers; the third bedroom is on the top floor with its own shower room. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. One well-behaved pet stays free.
The village pub is within a mile, and Chipping Norton's antique shops and restaurants are a short drive away. Hook Norton Children's Park is also nearby. No smoking indoors.
