Old Rectory Loft occupies the upper floor of a medieval house in a village setting near Chichester. The building dates from the 14th century and retains original roof trusses, beams and floorboards alongside contemporary heating and appliances. Access is via a steep narrow staircase with restricted headroom – worth knowing before booking. You get the whole space to yourself, with a private entrance and on-site parking for two cars.
The single bedroom contains two single beds that zip together; the bathroom has a roll-top bath with shower attachment. A combined living and dining room includes a television and electric fire. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with a two-ring hob, combi oven, air fryer, fridge-freezer and washing machine. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included. The owners live on the property and provide a welcome pack with complimentary breakfast items, coffee, tea and basic cooking essentials, plus toiletries and a hairdryer.
A 16th-century pub sits a two-minute walk away across the village green. From there, footpaths lead to Black Down, the South Downs' highest point, and various cycle routes. A recreation ground near the green hosts cricket matches and outdoor activities. Petworth, with its antique dealers and stately home, is a 15–20 minute drive away. No smoking is permitted indoors.
