About Wild Combe Camping
Tucked into the South Downs National Park, Wild Combe Camping is a back-to-basics site where the two private reservoirs steal the show. Guests can wild swim, paddleboard across glassy water, or simply laze in hammocks strung between the trees. There's no mains electricity – just stars, festoon lights, and the crackle of campfires fuelled by logs from the site's own felled trees. Families love the rope swings, woodland copse for adventures, and the wonderfully rustic bucket showers under the oaks, though purists should note there's no hot water.
Spacious pitches spread across Tennis Wells and The Roughs feel genuinely remote, with deer, hares and herons making regular appearances. Clean portable loos and attentive, friendly owners keep things comfortable without diluting the wild vibe. Elsted's pub is a five-minute stroll for local ales and hearty meals, while the South Downs Way beckons from nearby Beacon Hill – perfect for working up an appetite before your next reservoir dip.

What visitors say
Just spent two lovely nights camping. Beautiful location just 15mins from Petersfield. Pub two mins away. Lovely spacious campsite, beautiful reservoir to swim in and the water was warm. Bucket showers provided drinking and cleaning water at various locations on site and plenty of loos which don't stink. Met on arrival very welcoming. Kids loved it and we look forward to going again.

Very nice location. And kids loved the reservoir. But nearly £60 for a family of 4 to camp in a field for one night with basic services is too expensive. Hopefully people get sick of this and vote with their feet so prices start to come down. Also the must check out by 11am is a bit annoying considering it's just a field.

This was our first time camping at Wild Combe. We decided to have a big birthday camp to celebrate my husband’s big birthday with friends and family. We all loved our time there. It was quiet with lots of space, two reservoirs to swim and paddle board on and kids enjoyed claying themselves up. Looking up at the night sky was amazing. The bucket showers were let’s say …. refreshing! The nicest smelling portaloos I’ve ever had to use. Lyndsay the owner was amazing, welcoming and friendly, checking in everyday to see if we were ok and if we needed more wood. We were lucky to see the beautiful surrounding sunflowers. The Three Horse Shoes pub was just a short walk away and had lovely comfort food with a beautiful garden. We will definitely be back! ❤️

Stayed in one of the bell tents, a very chilled out pleasant site. This is a second visit for my partner that came last year. The site has two reservoirs and loads of space. The owner and staff are very responsive and keen to help, with a very nice balance with their presence, just checking in every now and then to see how we were. Plenty to do around the area, with hay bails and rope swings and some nice areas around the site to explore. The bell tent came with a box of firewood for the fire pit and grill with the offer of buying more if required
