About Night Pastures
Nestled in the heart of the South Downs National Park near Fernhurst, Night Pastures is a peaceful natural retreat that takes sustainability seriously. The site's commitment to low-impact camping means you'll find thoughtfully managed pitches where campfires are permitted, creating that proper back-to-nature atmosphere families particularly appreciate. Showers and drinking water keep things comfortable without overdoing the infrastructure.
The South Downs setting delivers genuine beauty and walking opportunities right from your tent door, though it's worth noting there's no WiFi – which for many is precisely the point. Dogs aren't permitted on site, so it suits those seeking a quieter camping experience. It's an honest, well-regarded spot for exploring West Sussex's downland scenery without the bells and whistles of larger commercial sites.

What visitors say
We stayed 2 nights at Night Pastures and it completely exceeded our exceptions! Roy was always around on hand and an absolute legend. Literally the nicest guy and nothing was too much to ask for. The campsite is beautiful! The views are exceptional. The way the site is set out means that you have so much privacy. We loved the rustic nature of the facilities. They were clean, the showers were hot and we loved the compost loos. Really excited to come back. This is going to be a firm favourite in our future camping endeavours.

Amazing quiet and beautiful camping spot. On site team were super helpful. Amenities are basic but very functional and clean. A little far from food places for cyclists but some takeaways will deliver to the gate!

Had a lovely stay at Night Pastures campsite! Lovely location in between lots of woods and forest. Plenty of room between pitches so feels almost like wild camping, but with access to hot water and loos! Roy the Site Manager was lovely and had us all set up ready with the fire pit and chairs that we had hired. Will definitely be going again!

Excellent campsite. Guests are sent a very useful guide ahead of staying which included some really thoughtful touches and information. Plenty of wheelbarrows to help transporting equipment and pitches are well spaced out leading to a peaceful atmosphere. Facilities were clean and in good condition, and even on a sunny May Bank Holiday, there was never a queue for toilets or showers. There’s some beautiful countryside to explore on foot or on bike nearby. All in all, a wonderful stay
