Caravan Bankside

I searched for some healthy food venues in my area at the time, and Caravan London Bridge was the top suggestion. I decided on the baked eggs (Which was essentially a Shakshuka) along with an American. I very much enjoyed this meal, and it provided for a good wholesome breakfast which was also on the healthy side. The staff were also friendly, but I found I did have to wait around before getting my bill. This was however not a dealbreaker, as the atmosphere was nice.

The peach bellini i was served was half a glass, had the tiniest bit of prosecco in it and was as thick as double cream, i had to order a second glass of prosecco to balance it out. The eggs i asked for well done were served runny -twice. I couldn’t eat anything. Such a disappointment, the waiter said theyre working with reduced staff in the kitchen apparently but eggs are not a difficult item. Price was about £50+ for a terrible experience, good luck you guys.

Rarely writing reviews but I think this one is necessary. I ordered the hot smoked salmon and eggs on toast. As someone who is very familiar with salmon and smoked salmon, I found the fish here very disappointing. Although I am more used to cold-smoked salmon, the cooked texture of this salmon was not the issue. It lacked any noticeable smoky aroma and instead carried a strong, unpleasantly fishy smell of oxidation. After taking just two bites to confirm the weird taste, I left most of the salmon untouched. When I gently mentioned to the staff that it wasn't what I expected, the manager/chef came out and politely explained it was a different cooking style different from cold smoked salmon. I mentioned the salmon tastes fermented (which is basically me trying to say “smelly” in a gentle way). He said yes, it should taste like that. I found this funny, and thanked his clarification to end this conversation. He also offered a small discount, like 20%, at checkout at the end. While I appreciate their good service attitude and the gesture on the bill, the taste of the fish raised concerns about freshness or handling. As for the front-of-house service, it was a mixed bag. The waitress who served me was nice and attentive—definitely worth 5 stars. However, the waiter who welcomed me and took my order was somehow dismissive.

The best coffee, and the best bacon I've ever had! Ran a coffee shop for a few years so have tried a few beans...the single blend roast they had on today was exceptional. And then the bacon... Sonnets could be written about this. Thick, salty, flavoursome and just the right ammount of bark. Staff were polite, attentive without being pushy and its a lovely space. Would happily go back (may do before I fly home)!
