About Mercure London Bankside
A buffet breakfast with plenty of choice sets the tone at Mercure London Bankside, a 144-room hotel spread across seven floors on Southwark Street. The location puts Borough Market, Tate Modern, London Bridge and the South Bank all within easy reach, making it a practical base for exploring that side of the river.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, and family and accessible options are available, though some are on the dated side rather than freshly refurbished. What stands out more consistently is the service, with staff regularly singled out as attentive and genuinely helpful. Beyond the restaurant and breakfast, there's a bar, a snack bar, room service, a gym, and afternoon tea for those wanting something more leisurely, plus meeting rooms and business facilities for anyone travelling with work in mind.
Practical extras include luggage storage, laundry service, packed lunches on request, and pets are welcome. There's no on-site parking, so this suits guests arriving by train or tube rather than by car, with plenty of pubs, bars and restaurants nearby for evenings out.
What guests say
We had a really great stay at Mercure London Bankside overall. The location is excellent – many attractions, restaurants, and the Thames are within easy walking distance. The hotel is modern, clean, and very stylish. A special mention goes to the restaurant: the food was absolutely fantastic and of really high quality! Also, the staff member working in the restaurant in the evening was exceptional – incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional. Service like that truly makes a difference. The only small downside was that the room felt a bit too cold for our liking. Other than that, it was a wonderful stay and we would definitely come back!

We had afternoon tea here today and it was absolutely beautiful. The food was delicious especially the mini croissant with smoked salmon and cream cheese. We received a complimentary glass of fizz when we sat down and a bottle soon after. The peppermint tea was lovely. The mini brie with date chutney was so lovely. Naveen was our server and he was amazing; very attentive, polite, helpful, professional. We will definitely come back again. Just a short walk from Blackfriars over the bridge and today was such beautiful weather it was perfect. 10/10

Rooms were not applicable to us, as we did afternoon tea, which was excellent. Considering one of us was gluten free and vegetarian (not exactly the easiest to accommodate) our waiter Mihai gave exceptional service start to finish from I booked on the phone with him and all the way throughout service. Was worthwhile for the money for sure.
