About citizenM London Bankside

A sleek, contemporary block among the converted warehouses and riverside streets of Bankside, citizenM London Bankside houses 192 rooms behind a design-led facade that stands apart from the area's older brick buildings. Inside, the style continues with a lobby built as much for lounging and working as for checking in, mixing vibrant furniture with practical co-working spaces.

Rooms are compact but well thought through, with large beds, air conditioning, and tablet controls for lighting and entertainment, plus drinks available in-room. Guests have access to a restaurant, bar, snack bar, breakfast, free WiFi, and lift access, along with luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures.

The location puts guests within easy reach of London's public transport network and close to a cluster of restaurants, pubs, and eateries nearby, with Tate Modern among the attractions within walking distance. Staff are consistently described as professional and helpful, and the hotel is generally regarded as good value for what's on offer.

This a hotel that caters to their scalability at the expense of your experience. Want a glass for water? Enjoy the walk back down to the bar in the middle of the night to get a simple glass of water. Want a reasonably cool room? Tough luck - A/C and ventilation doesn't work. Want hot water? Why bother when cold showers will counter balance the lack of A/C and you'll save the hotel on their water bill. Need to iron your shirt? Enjoy the queue to iron since the hotel could only afford 5 ironing stations for the entire hotel. If Ebenezer Scrooge ran a hotel, it would be the Citzen M. This is a two star hotel with 4-star prices.

CitizenM rooms are small, but they're very consistent across the brand. I find they work best when travelling alone for one-two nights and not having a lot of luggage. This will not be the right choice for every type of traveller. I **hate** that there are no cups in the room. This forces you to go down to the lobby to borrow a cup from the bar before you can brush your teeth or take pills... then housekeeping goes and takes the cup and doesn't replace it so you have to do it again. This is by no means the most expensive hotel in London, but its not the cheapest either: give the people cups (next to no cost and a big bump in guest experience). One star off the room for no cups. Well located if you need to be in Southbank, but not the very best location for the tube. Nice, friendly staff at the front desk. Would be ideal if some effort is made to recognize Marriott elite members (maybe pre-assign a room with a better view?). Would return for a quick overnight if I needed to be in the area.

I had a very good stay at citizenM Bankside. The hotel is modern and has a nice, cozy feel to it. The room was compact but cleverly designed and fully equipped. I found the tablet-controlled features quite convenient and everything was kept very clean. I opted for a room facing the inner courtyard, which turned out to be a great choice as it stayed perfectly quiet throughout my stay. The breakfast was a definite highlight, offering a wide variety that would honestly suit any preference. Overall, a very smooth and pleasant experience.

Overpriced hotel, and the service does not reflect a 4‑star standard. The location is good, conveniently opposite an M&S Food, and the hotel is surprisingly quiet despite being on a busy street. Check‑in is fully automated. Rooms facing the courtyard actually face other rooms, so you end up looking directly into someone else’s window. There is only one lift for five floors, which becomes slow and crowded at peak times. The room itself is small and may be fine if you’re alone, but two people would find it uncomfortable. The bed is pushed directly against the window, which makes the space feel even more limited, and with two people you essentially have to move around the room one after the other. Because three sides of the bed are against either the wall or the window, it’s also difficult for two people to get in and out; if the person on the window side wants to get up, they basically have to climb over the other person. The toilet has a frosted glass door that offers very little acoustic privacy. Most room functions are controlled through an iPad. There is no kettle, no coffee, and - most surprisingly - no bottled water or glasses. You essentially cannot drink anything unless you buy your own water and cup, which is unacceptable for a hotel in this price range and category. Breakfast is good and has everything you need, and it’s nice that you can order unlimited coffee.
