This is a great place with a unique ambiance. When you enter through the front door, you are welcomed by a small vestibule with stairs leading you to a big underground upscale bunker-like dining room. Menu offers a multitude of options, including prix fixe selections. Service is amazing, very friendly and helpful.

A lovely place with delicious food. It was our first time trying Indian cuisine. It was a wonderful experience. The staff were very friendly and polite. The atmosphere was perfect for a lovely dinner. We arrived at 5 pm, but by 6 pm it had got quite busy. In my opinion, the tables are placed very close together. It felt as though all the diners were sitting at one table. A bit more privacy wouldn’t have gone amiss.

Sam is the best! He is incredibly kind and supportive. The entire staff is energetic and helpful, and every single dish we tried was amazing. We particularly loved the naan—it’s an absolute must-try. This place is definitely a must-go!

Sizzling lamb chops that rival Tayyabs in a unique and intimate cellar vibe! We happened upon “The India” on Cannon Street after our failed attempt at an impromptu table at Brigadiers on a Friday night. The vibe was unexpectedly cool, the prices very reasonable and the sizzling lamb chops stole the show. They were amazing and actually saved the night, along with this review. Our samosas, chicken tikka masala and garlic naan were ok. Had there not been the aroma of mothballs and mildew lingering throughout the dining room, “The India” just may have been five stars in my book …
