About Chyan Farm
Tucked into a peaceful rural valley near the Cornish hamlet of Halvasso, Chyan Farm is a cultural centre and community project running a spacious wild camping site with a decidedly eco-friendly approach. Apple orchards surround the pitches, and the site makes its own apple juice on-site. Kids adore the willow structures and mud kitchen in the community field, while grown-ups appreciate the solar-powered bathhouse with hot showers and the friendly vibe of regular fairs, workshops and craft classes throughout the year.
This is simple, back-to-basics camping – compost toilets, springwater taps, no reception desk – and the bathroom, though kept clean, won't gleam like a hotel's. You may spot the odd spider's web. But if you're after a wildish escape surrounded by wildlife and forest garden projects, five miles from Falmouth's coast, Chyan Farm delivers exactly that low-impact, high-freedom experience.

What a magic little find! Feels like a very special place doing so much really cool stuff! I’ve been to meditation/chanting evening, ladies community woodwork and a pottery course here and there’s so much coming up that I want to get to from bee keeping, foraging walks, dance and yoga workshops.. lovely friendly people and a beautiful special creative space ✨🌳

This is about the camp site only. The road entrance for larger vehicles (over 5m long) is very very tight. Most of the main camping field is not level but some is. The grass on the field was mostly not cut when we arrived which meant very soggy feet from morning dew. Some old grass cuttings were left laying on the field which was constantly carried on shoes into the tents. There is an adjacent apple orchard which is quite pretty. The compost toilets had very poorly designed lighting....a torch was needed. The steps to the 2 compost toilet cubicles in the field were very difficult for older campers, and uneven (and frankly a bit dangerous). We got mixed messages from the camp site staff as to which water taps had drinking water. When we arrived the hot shower in the converted horse box had no water heater or gas connected (site staff did rectify this though same day to give our group of campers one reliable hot shower). The horse box shower and solar showers might have been cleaned by site staff, but I never saw that in the two weeks I was there. There is a loud noise curfew at 9pm and a total noise curfew at 9.30pm, and any camp fire had to be extinguished at that time too. Whilst we were grateful to have a camp fire, it is a bit ridiculous to have such an early curfew. The site cafe did our group an evening meal which was mostly appalling......below average food quality, very very slow service (due mainly to totally inadequate numbers of staff), the contents of our pre-booked meals seemed change each time a portion arrived at a table, and the chef forgot to bake the pre-booked cake. It is a reasonably lower cost place to camp but In my experience it's not suitable for a medium size organised camping group as the site management don't seem to be very interested in running a professional camp site.....only my opinion, and it might be that they are just too busy with their other businesses instead (circus skills, training, function room hire etc). We were grateful for the use of the centre's Apple Barn on wet days, and the site owner laid on a pop up camp shop with some useful items for sale....thank you for that. I want to thank one staff member, Caroline, for being friendly and helpful as much as her responsibilities allowed her to. I have no experience/comment of the other services/businesses that operate from the centre. It was a shame as we really wanted to like this camp site, and the wider area is fantastic.
