About Penwarne Campsite
Tucked near Mawnan Smith just outside Falmouth, Penwarne Campsite offers a no-frills base for exploring Cornwall's south coast. The site welcomes campfires — a rarity that adds atmosphere on cooler evenings — and dogs are allowed throughout, making it popular with families and touring couples alike. Facilities cover the basics (showers, toilets, drinking water) and half the pitches come with electric hook-up if you need it.
The rural setting feels genuinely peaceful, though some visitors note the shower block can feel a little tired in places. Still, if you're after a straightforward, campfire-friendly spot within easy reach of Falmouth's harbour and the coastal path toward Helford, Penwarne does the job without fuss.

Nicola the Manager is absolutely fantastic. Brilliant with communication and genuinely caring. The setting is stunning. The views unparalleled. It's a calm and peaceful non flashy campsite where you can get back to nature. Maybe as a family with young children you crave more facilities. Personally for us as a couple only , less is more . The toilets and showers have always been absolutely fine for us. Never noticed they are particularly unclean and they do the job fine. It's a campsite not a hotel. As hospitality owners ourselves I have to say never in 5 years has a guest assumed they can charge their car from our property without a) offering to pay any extra cost b) checking the correct safety procedures. Then we've always been happy to accommodate. Thank you Penwarne you've helped us immensely this year. Providing invaluable respite. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and experience. This is simply ours.

Not for people who enjoy camping, nor a family friendly campsite at all, badly converted farm to low level campsite, more full of people want parting over enjoying countryside! No owners to police party goers so me & my young family had a horrible time being kept awake till the small hours , hearing swearing & listening to drunk campers. The owner gave no care to this and ignored our concerns. This campsite is literally run as a side hustle with no care whatsoever to your experience. It’s run down, Avoid at all costs.

Avoid at all cost. This place is advertised as family friendly with a "lights out/quiet time" at 10:30pm. What a joke. On all three nights we endured here, there was loud music, shouting and partying until 1am. At one point, the tent next to us descended into a huge domestic. Just what you want your kids to hear on a so-called family campsite. When I raised it with the owner, I was told they "police the curfew regularly" and was advised to drag our 10-berth air beam tent into an empty field. Not exactly the camping experience we paid for. Facilities? Dismal. The toilets were filthy, the showers cold, and the "play area" looked like something left over from East Berlin circa 1992. I asked for a refund and sent several texts - all ignored. We won't be back. Don't go here if you actually enjoy camping. Do go here if you want the atmosphere of a Saturday night pub car park: drunk, wasted people swearing into the early hours.
