Barton Cottage is a wing of a 16th-century farmhouse on the edge of North Petherwin, a few miles south of Launceston. The building retains period character while offering modern essentials: two bedrooms (one kingsize, one with single beds), a bathroom with shower, and a ground-floor living and dining space with Freeview television. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, with gas and electric appliances, a dishwasher and washing machine. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included in your stay.
Outside, a small garden has seating and a gas barbecue; parking for two cars is on site. The location puts you within reach of several draws: Launceston's castle and heritage railway sit a short drive away, the north coast beaches are roughly 15 minutes further, and Bodmin Moor lies nearby. The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are accessible for day trips. A pub and restaurant are about 3.6 miles away; shops about 5 miles. The cottage does not permit smoking.

What guests say
We just returned from a lovely stay at Barton cottage. When you say somewhere is spotless, it is literally the case here! Access is through the owners garden but we rarely saw Jan and Phil. They weren’t overbearing in anyway and their garden is just as well maintained as the cottage. There is a private seating area plus a large accessible garden area with plenty of nature. The cottage does have its quirks. When Jan tells you how important it is to duck, you should listen! 😅 this is a great central location to hit most of north Devon and down to Newquay which is about an hour away. On the south you can get to Plymouth in just over an hour. Would well recommend.
