The Earl of Chatham pub is close enough for an evening walk. This is a working estate where the owners live in the main house, and you have access to shared grounds that slope down to the river, dotted with mature oaks and rhododendrons. You can explore on foot, park up and walk into town, or use the grounds as a quiet space between days out exploring mid-Cornwall.
The Farmhouse itself is detached with three bedrooms and space enough for six. Downstairs there's a separate dining room, a living room with an open fire (logs included), and a proper kitchen where you can cook properly—gas cooker, dishwasher, the basics all there. Upstairs, one bedroom has an ensuite; the others share a shower room. Linen, towels, electricity and wi-fi are all covered. There's parking for three cars on-site, and a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. One dog is welcome at no extra cost. The property is non-smoking.
This works well for families wanting countryside quiet without being remote—you're genuinely close to a proper Cornish town with things to do, but you're also on an estate where you can let children run around safely and adults can sit with a book in actual peace.

We spent a week in Poundhouse in early March. The cottage was wonderful with everything we needed to make our stay warm, cosy and relaxed. The secure garden, accessible directly from the kitchen was great for our dog. The open kitchen, dining area and lounge space was well equipped with plenty of space. The double bedroom was comfortable, a very comfortable bed and plenty of storage. The electric, over the bath shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. We didn't use the twin room, but it looked comfortable, and again had plenty of storage. Our hosts, Ruth and Henry were very welcoming and happy to share ideas and suggestions of places to go and also good eateries. The location, at Lostwithiel is ideal to access north, south, east and west Cornwall. Which means you can keep an eye on the weather and go in whichever direction looks best. Lostwithiel has history, good pubs, and independent shops, as well as a Co-op supermarket We will happily stay again next time we're down in Cornwall.

Peaceful; nice outlook; happy to stay again at Tristan's. Good base for both north and south Cornwall. Mine hosts pleasant also so all good.

We had the pleasure of spending a week at Granny's Cottage with friends, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by our hosts, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. They provided us with excellent recommendations for the best spots to visit, ensuring we made the most of our time in the beautiful Cornwall region. The cottage itself is incredibly comfortable and well-appointed, offering all the amenities one could need for a relaxing stay. It truly felt like a home away from home. The charm and coziness of Granny's Cottage made our stay even more special, and we enjoyed every moment spent there. Cornwall is a stunning area with breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage. We highly recommend visiting this magnificent part of the world and staying at Granny's Cottage. You will love it just as much as we did!

Had a marvellous time at the Farmhouse cottage with my friends, the place is lovely and relaxing, a real haven of peace. We spent hours on the sunny terasse and garden, went for a few runs in the forest nearby and fully enjoyed the region with its variety of activities and landscapes. The flat has a lot of character and is super cozy, + it is fully equiped and the bedding is very comfortable. Most importantly, the hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. I will definitely come back !
