🏡 Self-Catering Cottage

The Old Coach House

Photo: The Old Coach House

This converted coach house dates back generations, retaining the character of its stone-built past while offering everything needed for a self-catering break. The main lodge has an open-plan living and dining space that opens onto a private deck—a real draw on fine days—plus a kitchen equipped for proper cooking. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms means four guests can spread out comfortably: a king bedroom with en suite in the lodge, and another king with en suite in the adjoining shepherd's hut, which has its own kitchenette.

Boscastle sits on the North Cornwall coast, a mile or so from Widemouth Bay, a two-mile stretch of sand with rock pools to explore. The Southwest Coast Path runs nearby for walkers, and you're close to villages like Tintagel to the north and Bude a couple of miles away. The property is set back in a rural location, quieter than the busier seaside towns. Electricity, bed linen and towels are provided. No smoking indoors. Check-in is after 3pm and checkout before 10am.

We had lovely stay, the owner Jackie was so welcoming. The hotel is child friendly, has a lovely garden, patio and a play kitchen for children in the reception hall.

Excellent all round. Jackie was very friendly and knowledgeable on the area. Our room was perfect. Breakfast was superb. Nice garden area to sit in premier shop just opposite, with a pizza van on a Fri evening. Would highly recommend.

From start to finish, our stay was flawless. • Price: Excellent value for the quality and experience offered – worth every penny. • Rooms: Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and incredibly comfortable. • Breakfast: Fresh, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared – the perfect start to the day. • Hosting: Warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive without ever being intrusive. • Location: Ideal – peaceful yet close to everything worth exploring.

We stayed at the Old Coach House a few weeks ago and had an absolutely wonderful time. The rooms were lovely, spotless and very cozy. Breakfast had plenty of options, all the ones we tried were delicious and home cooked. Jackie was a marvellous host, always making sure we had everything we needed and was always happy to help and made us feel right at home. The location is brilliant, makes a great base for exploring the area, and right by the Napoleon Inn, which was lively and had lots of music and events on. Definitely hoping to come back next year!
