The Eden Valley sits within reach of Carlisle, with the Settle-Carlisle Railway line running through the village and countryside walks on the doorstep. Armathwaite Manor, built in 1829, has been converted into holiday lets, and Edenside is the four-bedroom wing. The whole property is yours alone, accommodating eight guests across four bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom. Three bedrooms have zip-and-link beds that can be configured as two singles or one super king; the fourth offers a fixed super king. A wood-burning stove anchors the living room, and a fully equipped kitchen handles self-catering for groups—oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave and washer-dryer all present.

Outside, a private garden with seating and a barbecue (available April through September) sits alongside a hot tub for eight, secluded and yours for the duration. There is parking for four cars and a bike store. Essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen and towels are covered; wi-fi keeps you connected. The property does not permit smoking. Families and groups looking for space to spread out will find that Edenside offers both sociable common areas and separate bathrooms enough that nobody queues in the mornings.

We stayed in Eden side. It is excellent. Everywhere was very clean. Walking distance to two pubs . Right next to the river. Host was extremely polite and keen to ensure we enjoyed our stay. A great place for a family get together. We would stay there again.

We stayed here over the weekend and it was stunning. The photos on the website don’t reflect how lovely and comfortable this property is. Sue was absolutely brilliant from the get go. Great information about the accommodation and places to see nearby. Would absolutely recommend and we can’t wait to return.

I stayed at Armathwaite Manor as a group of 8 and we absolutely loved our stay here. The attention to detail and beautiful touches throughout gave the stay a luxury feel whilst being a comfortable and very relaxing place to be. The bathrooms and bedrooms are all huge, spotless and modern and the grounds are beautiful, well tended to and were thriving with spring bulbs during our stay. The hot tub was a massive bonus, all 8 of us (adults) fit in with a bit of a squeeze & was a wonderful way to spend a few hours each day. There's two lovely pubs within a couple of minutes walk and very easy access to woodland/River Eden walks just outside the front gate. Something to be aware of would be the house is separated into a few separate rentings, with doors locked within our space that would lead directly to their space. Not a problem for us since nobody else was staying next door but something to keep in mind if you would prefer total privacy.
