Carrigbaun
Cumberland
Thornthwaite sits at the south-western end of Bassenthwaite Lake, with Whinlatter Forest and the fells rising behind it. The village is three miles from Keswick, close enough for its theatres and restaurants but far enough out to feel removed. Carrigbaun occupies part of a former 17th-century coaching inn, now converted into a small development with its own grounds and parking for two cars.
Inside, the apartment spreads across two floors with three bedrooms: one with a kingsize bed and ensuite on the lower ground, a double on the ground floor, and two singles upstairs. There are two bathrooms, one with a bath and shower. The main living space is open plan—a kitchen with oak units and marble worktops, a dining area, and a sitting room with views towards the valley and Skiddaw beyond. A utility room with washer-dryer is tucked on the lower ground floor. Freeview television and a DVD player are provided; wifi and all heating and linen are included.
Glass doors open onto a decked area facing the fells. The shared garden beyond has a pond and sitting areas. It suits groups or families who want fell walking and lake activities nearby—Whinlatter offers sailing and fishing—but also quick access to Keswick's amenities. The property is non-smoking throughout. A cot is available on request.
