Fieldstone

The northern Lake District around Bassenthwaite offers walking routes through open fells, lakeside paths, and quieter valleys—exactly the kind of landscape that makes a countryside break worthwhile. An upside-down barn conversion with its main living space on the upper floor, it was built from a 17th-century structure, and the original beams remain visible overhead.

Bedrooms are downstairs: a double with dual aspect windows and a twin with zip-and-link beds that convert into a superking on request, plus a family bathroom with shower over bath and a wash basin in the twin room. Upstairs, the open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area fills with light and fell views through the windows. The woodburning stove provides warmth for cooler evenings. Essentials like bed linen, towels and wifi are covered; the kitchen is equipped for self-catering. One dog stays free. There's parking for two cars, and you have private use of the whole property.

A shared garden with the neighbouring cottage offers a spot to sit outside, and laundry facilities are available in an outbuilding. No smoking inside.
