About Ravenstone Lodge
Bassenthwaite, on the edge of the Lake District near Keswick, is a quiet spot for exploring fells and water alike, and Ravenstone Lodge makes a comfortable base for it. This small hotel has just nine rooms, each en-suite with air conditioning and drinks provided, and guests consistently find them comfortable and well kept.
The restaurant and bar are the heart of the place, with a menu built around Cumbrian lamb and a steak pie that has picked up particular praise, alongside breakfasts that set guests up well for a day outdoors. Meals can be taken in the garden or on the terrace, where the mountain views stretch out across the surrounding countryside. Staff are attentive and the atmosphere relaxed, with free WiFi, laundry service and luggage storage covering the practical side of a stay, and free on-site parking for those arriving by car.
Outside, Bassenthwaite Lake and the wider fells offer walking and cycling routes, while golf, fishing and watersports are all within reach nearby, and Keswick itself has pubs and restaurants for evenings out. It suits guests who want good food and a quiet setting rather than extensive hotel facilities.

What guests say
What can I say? Wonderful from start to finish. Beautiful location to start with, within 10 minutes of Keswick. We went with another couple and had our evening meal there. I couldn’t fault it. Freshly prepared and beautifully presented by wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. The rooms (10 in total) are nicely presented and clean. It was really warm when we were there 26C and the room was warm but there was a fan in the room. The breakfasts are superb and again freshly made. Outside there’s a patio seating area with breathtaking views towards Bassenthwaite lake. We’ll definitely be going back. If you like good food in a wonderful location then you’ve got to go. ***one thing worth noting is that it’s a VERY sharp turn into the hotel if you’re coming from Keswick direction - be careful.

Wow! We stayed a few weeks ago for three nights and had such a special trip. Our room was gorgeous, the food was out of this world, Brett was the most friendly and attentive guy and we were made to feel so comfortable and relaxed from the moment we arrived. We definitely want to stay again and we will 100% be recommending it to friends and family. A real gem in a lovely location.

Recently attended a wedding here, the whole experience was outstanding. The staff were exceptional accoss the board, Brett deserves a mention as he made everyone feel welcomed from the moment they arrived. The food we had was excellent, between all of my immediate family of 6 there wasn't a single complaint as the standard was that high. 10/10 I would stop here again and recommend to anyone looking for somewhere nice to stay in the lake district.

We stayed at Ravenstone Lodge for three nights and it was exceptional. The accommodation was immaculately clean and clearly newly refurbished, making the stay feel very comfortable and high-end. The service really set this place apart. Brett was incredibly attentive—nothing was too much trouble—and Charlie, the owner, was very friendly. The entire staff team was always happy and welcoming. The food was the absolute highlight; in my opinion, it was Michelin standard. As a bonus for electric car owners, they also provide free E.V. charging, which was a huge help. Highly recommended!
