This Victorian police station, thoughtfully converted into holiday accommodation, retains the character of its former life while offering modern comfort throughout. What were once the cells are now two substantial bedrooms on the ground floor, their original stone walls and period ironwork left visible as reminders of the building's history. A first bedroom has a king bed and walk-in shower ensuite; the second contains twin beds. The shared bathroom has a bath with shower.
The open-plan living and dining space occupies what was the main police station area, with high ceilings and a woodburner as the focal point. The kitchen is equipped for self-catering, with electric cooking and a full set of appliances including a dishwasher. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included, along with initial fuel for the wood burner. A small courtyard to the rear has garden furniture and seating; parking is available for two cars on site.
Hodbarrow House is in Millom, a coastal town at the mouth of the Duddon Estuary on the western edge of the Lake District, close to the Millom Heritage & Arts Centre. The property is not suitable for children and is non-smoking throughout.
