Jemima’s Cottage

Jemima's Cottage comes fully set up for self-catering: the kitchen has an electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge, so you can cook proper meals rather than relying on takeaways. Bed linen, towels and wi-fi are included, along with the initial fuel for the open fire in the living room. Heating and electricity are covered. There's a washing machine and tumble dryer in an external utility room (a small charge applies for their use).

The cottage sleeps five across two bedrooms: one with a double bed, the other with a double and a single. A bathroom with bath and shower serves both. The living and dining areas are open-plan, with a 32-inch Freeview TV. Parking for one car is on-site, with additional road parking available. One dog stays free; smoking is not permitted.

Bassenthwaite village sits in the quieter northern reaches of the Lake District, two miles from both the lake itself and the foot of Skiddaw. The Sun Inn is within a mile, serving local food and ale, and there's a village green for games a short walk away. Walks for various abilities start from the door. A wildlife park is five minutes' drive; Mirehouse and Gardens is under ten minutes away.
