Rebecca Puddle Duck Cottage
Cumberland
Rebecca Puddle Duck Cottage is a barn conversion arranged over two floors in reverse plan. Downstairs holds the bedroom with a double bed; upstairs opens into a living and dining area with kitchen and bathroom. The first floor has exposed oak beams that require a duck under the doorway—a quirk that gives the place its name. From the dining area and bedroom, there are views across the village rooftops towards Skiddaw Mountain. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge for self-catering; the bathroom has a bath with shower over it. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and WiFi are all included.
The cottage sits in Bassenthwaite village on what was once a sheep farm, now converted into a small courtyard with the owner's farmhouse and two other properties. A stream runs nearby where the owner's ducks can often be spotted. The village pub is a two-minute walk away, serving local ales and food. Keswick market town is fifteen minutes' drive. One car parks on site; further parking is available on the road. One well-behaved pet stays free. No smoking inside.
