Meadow Barn
Cumberland
Meadow Barn is a detached bungalow in Braithwaite, where Chaplin's Beck—a natural stream that occasionally brings visiting ducks—flows through the garden, giving the property its name. The house sits at the foot of Newlands Valley, within easy reach of Keswick and the north-western Lakes. The village itself has a shop, tea room and pubs; from the door are valley walks and access to popular hikes including Grisedale Pike and the Coledale Horseshoe.
Three light bedrooms accommodate five guests. The master has a king bed and an en-suite; the second bedroom offers zip-link twins (or a king on request); the third is a single. A second bathroom serves the rest of the house. The living and dining space has a wood-burning stove and triple-aspect windows; a separate garden room opens directly onto a patio overlooking fell slopes. A well-equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, full-size fridge and freezer, and utility space with a washer and dryer. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included; high-speed broadband is available.
The generous garden is sunny with planters and borders, and two sets of outdoor tables and chairs. Note that the garden is not enclosed from the road or the stream, so children need close supervision. No smoking.
