About The Ruddings

A dedicated dog washing station sets the tone at The Ruddings, a hotel in Braithwaite just outside Keswick that has clearly been designed with four-legged guests in mind. Alongside the large garden where dogs can roam, pets are welcomed throughout, making this a straightforward base for walkers exploring the surrounding Lake District fells.

Rooms are en-suite and kept spotless, with modern bathrooms and a comfortable, understated feel that leans more relaxed than formal despite a touch of quiet luxury. Family rooms are available, and free WiFi and drinks in room add to the practical comforts. The restaurant and bar are a genuine highlight, serving a wide breakfast selection each morning and a Sunday roast that guests single out for praise, with packed lunches available for those heading out for the day. Staff are attentive and friendly, and room rates are considered good value for what's on offer.

Outside, mountain views frame the setting, and the on-site picnic area makes the most of them. Free on-site parking is provided, and the surrounding area offers cycling and walking routes, golf, fishing, watersports, and nearby pubs and restaurants for evenings out. It's a solid choice for anyone travelling with a dog and wanting the Lake District on their doorstep.

What a fantastic hotel in a gorgeous setting. The bedroom was large and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable, the room and bathroom was spotless. The fod was gorgeous! A great choice and lovely and hot when it arrived. The best thing is the terrace with a view to die for! Of course I cannot forget the staff who would bend over backwards to make our stay a memorable one. We were there for my son's 39th and there were 17 of us! So well done.....

First ever visit visit for the Sunday lunch. I'll firmly put it in my top 5 in Cumbria for Traditional Sunday roasts. The beef was lovely pink and the roast potatoes crisp. Best cauliflower cheese I've had and topped off with a rich gravy. The rest of the family went off the normal menu and no complaints, looked and tasted fabulous. We will book a room and return for dinner so we can enjoy the cocktails next visit. Thanks to all.

Staying in our motorhome at a site across the road. Called in for couple of beers a few nights and great ambience and fantastic staff. Was recommended it for Sunday lunch so decided to book. Wow, food was excellent, so much flavour and great portions. Again all the staff were excellent, I really cannot recommend this place enough and look forward to our next trip in this area because will definitely head back to ruddings for drinks and food.

We had the pleasure of spending 5 nights at The Ruddings Hotel and it was a delight: Very attentive and friendly staff, comfy rooms, modern bathrooms and great breakfast. We also had dinner twice and it was very good. Located just minutes away from Keswick and close to all the nature hotspots. Nice add-on: You can charge your car. Thank you for everything.
