The Retreat

A stream flows through the grounds of The Retreat, a three-bedroom cottage in rural Cumberland with access to both the northern Lake District fells and the Cumbrian coast. The property sleeps six across a kingsize bed, a double, and two singles, with two bathrooms to share the space. The enclosed garden has seating areas and parking for three cars on the drive.

Inside, the kitchen has an electric range, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, which makes cooking straightforward whether you're using local ingredients or having groceries delivered. There are two living spaces—one with a woodburner and initial logs supplied, the other with a television. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are all included. The cottage is non-smoking.

Cockermouth lies six miles away, Keswick twelve miles, and the coast is roughly the same distance. The surrounding farmland attracts birds and wildlife. Armathwaite Hall, a wedding venue, is three miles off if that matters to your group.
