Built around 1750, Milkmaids Cottage is a converted dairy in the village of Kniveton, within the Derbyshire Dales. It occupies a quiet position next to the owners' home, with direct access to their large enclosed garden—a genuine feature rather than marketing speak, as the garden actually contains a stream. The cottage itself retains exposed stonework and period character without sacrificing comfort; essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are all provided.
The ground floor holds a living room (with Freeview, DVD and electric woodburner), plus a kitchen-diner equipped for proper cooking: electric oven, dishwasher, microwave and washer-dryer. Upstairs are two bedrooms—one double, one twin—and a family bathroom. The property sleeps 6 and is yours alone; there's parking for two cars on site and a courtyard with garden furniture and a BBQ. A highchair is available if needed. Smoking is not permitted.
From the front door, miles of public footpaths fan across the fields. Ashbourne, about 3 miles away, has shops and restaurants; Carsington Water is nearby for sailing and water sports. The Red Lion pub sits down the hill, and the village church next door dates to the 13th century.
