About Calvert Devon Lodges
Tucked on Exmoor's western fringe and a quarter-hour from the North Devon National Landscape coast, Calvert Devon Lodges delivers functional, no-frills accommodation for families, walking groups and multi-family gatherings who'd rather spend their energy on trails than hunting for boutique touches. The modern lodges combine bunks and singles with private loos and showers, plus communal living spaces—practical rather than plush. An indoor pool and activity centre are both on site, though you'll need to book ahead.
Wistlandpound Reservoir sits five minutes' walk away, offering trout fishing, birdwatching and dog-friendly woodland paths. Exmoor's hiking and mountain-biking routes fan out in all directions, while sheltered coves like Newberry Beach tempt wild swimmers and watersports fans. The on-site restaurant takes advance bookings if you'd rather not self-cater; otherwise, local pubs lie within a short drive, and Ilfracombe or Barnstaple (20 minutes) add broader dining choice. Dogs are welcome year-round—a boon for four-legged explorers.

What visitors say
An incredible opportunity to try something new, socialise, push your limits and be surrounded by supportive, patient and wonderful people who truly care. As an Army Veteran and wheeled adventurer, I cannot recommend this place enough.

We had an amazing time at Calvert Devon from start to finish. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment and it had everything we needed. The staff went above and beyond for my son to make sure he had every opportunity on each activity. Special thank you to Fynn who we predominately had taking us on each day. He was always making sure my sons needs were med and gave options on how to do the activities which meant he had these amazing new experiences. So thank you so much. Another appreciation is the Male chef (unsure of his name) he was so accommodating to my child's dietary requirements and nothing was too much trouble for him which made things smoother and dinner time so really do really appreciate that also. The grounds are spotless and the staff are so friendly. Would highly recommend coming here we had the best week with the best memories to last!!

We called around a lot of places to find somewhere that did canoing for wheelchair users. Someone suggested this place and I am deeply grateful for that suggestion. All of the staff were friendly and supportive. At first we thought it may be too windy, but after the staff checked it, we were good to go. My concerns were almost immediately put to rest as they talked us through what would happen. We really enjoyed our time on the water but none of us brought our phone as we didn't have a waterproof case. Otherwise I would have definitely taken some photos. We really enjoyed being out in nature with no distractions though. We saw geese, ducks and ducklings and a huge number of swifts. Absolutely beautiful afternoon and Lewis was a great instructor. Angus made sure that we all knew what was happening and picked us up at the end on an accessible buggy as we were shattered. I highly recommend if you have a disability and just want to do something or try something. Give them a call, they will try and get it sorted for you. Thank you all for being so welcoming and chatty. We really loved it and will definitely be back! 😁👍

I accompanied a friend on a trip to Calvert Exmoor. We had a longer journey, but it was definitely worth it. We were warmly welcomed and had a lot of fun with all the activities. The Calvert Exmoor team met everyone in our group at eye level according to their respective needs. The landscape is a dream. And without exaggerating: I felt really alive again in a long time. We would like to come back and wish your entire team God's rich blessings for your important service.
