About Cross Foxes - Bar Grill Rooms
Cross Foxes - Bar Grill Rooms suits travellers who want somewhere hearty and unfussy to base themselves near Snowdonia, whether that's a walking trip, a fishing weekend, or simply a stopover on the way through Gwynedd. It sits in Brithdir, close to Dolgellau, with free on-site parking that even stretches to overnight campervan stays, making it a practical stop for those touring by car.
Rooms are en-suite with free WiFi and drinks available in-room, and packed lunches can be arranged for anyone heading out early to walk or cycle. The 24-hour reception adds a bit of flexibility for guests coming back late from the hills. Downstairs, the restaurant and bar are the heart of the place, with a menu that regularly earns praise for dishes such as the Sunday roast, burgers, and haddock, all served by a genuinely welcoming team. Some find the food pricier than expected, so it's worth bearing in mind if you're watching the budget.
Beyond the doors there's plenty to fill the days: golf, fishing, and watersports are all within reach, alongside walking and cycling routes through the surrounding countryside, plus other pubs and restaurants nearby for those who fancy exploring further afield. Breakfast is included to set you up before heading out.

What guests say
We had a dinner in the Cross Foxes. Very warm welcome from very first step. Friendly, pleasant, professional service. Food was excellent. Enjoyed every minute! Highly recommended to all! Terrace seating available. We didn't stay in the hotel. No doubt it will be same, just great 👍

Possibly the best Sunday lunch out ever and I’m 64 and eat out very often. That said no need to charge a fiver to have a Yorkshire pudding with it. Very generous portions presented well and very quick service all round. Lovely staff

Disappointing. Staff need training, food needs improving. Who I'm assuming is the manageress must love the sound of her own voice as this is one of the main things we could hear whilst dining inside, along with a lot of personal staff conversations and expletives audible in the dining area from the kitchen staff. We were close to leaving before we even ordered food. Wish we did to be honest. Dry, flavourless, sad burgers. Don't bother.

We stopped here yesterday and had a beautifully cooked Sunday Dinner. The food was excellent and the pub was beautifully furnished and maintained. We had a waitress called Cadi, my gosh was she good at her job. Working bi lingually, she was polite, patient and organised. She had everyone's drinks and meals in here head, along with reservations and table planning. She was VERY impressive.
