About Hallett's Rural Campsite
Tucked on the Isle of Portland with farm animals grazing nearby, Hallett's Rural Campsite is a relaxed, family-run spot that embraces a proper wild camping feel. Firepits and barbecues are welcome, facilities are kept purposefully simple (though there is a clean amenities block), and the laid-back atmosphere suits walkers, dog owners, and budget campers looking for an unfussy base. The site can feel a touch tired in places, but the location more than compensates.
Church Ope Cove sits half an hour's walk away via the South West Coast Path, while Weymouth's beach and promenade are a 20-minute drive. Paddleboarding, sea kayaking, climbing, and coasteering are all within easy reach along this spectacular Jurassic coast stretch. Closer to hand, pubs, bakeries, and chip shops cluster within a 10-minute walk, and buses run nearby for car-free exploring. It's an honest, outdoorsy pitch that delivers on access to Dorset's coastal drama without any bells and whistles.

What visitors say
Just returned for 2 nights over bank holiday, 2 adults, 2 kids and our dog. We loved it! Back to basics campsite (with the added extra of the bar!) With lovely chilled vibes. Staff were genuinelly excited to welcome us and very helpful. Yes there is only one sink in the ladies/gents but we were there when fully booked and it was never a problem. We were surrounded by other family's, groups of friends going hiking, a few climbers and people in campers who were just chilling, everyone was friendly and having a good time. Walking distance of co op, a great fish and chips shop and a pub. Plus ice cream van turned up each day which went down very well with our kids. Great place! Would recommend

We absolutely loved it here. The owners made us feel welcome straight away. It a lovely spacious field with clean toilets in the block. Had good recycling. The animals especially the ostriches chasing the goats in the fields next were so entertaining watching them. They also have another section with views over the sea to die for but only portaloos there. He even said it we wanted we could go there. He was so easy going. Next time I go anywhere near here with my campervan this pop up site would be my first choice. Thanks for an awesome stay .

Absolutely beautiful, basic camp site with stunning views across the coast. Lovely walks all along the coast with spots for crabbing and swimming (not that we did, but we seen people doing it). We woke up to the most beautiful sunrise and a little visit from a local seal along the coast. This would be a 5 star review, but the portaloos were disgusting (I know they aren’t the nicest anyway, but these were next level). Hardly any of them flushed, so you had to tip water down them. The “window bit” that allows waste to go to the bottom was broke on most of the loos, so you couldn’t literally see everyone else waste and the smell was horrific.. I couldn’t even imagine what they would smell like on a hot day. I don’t think they had been cleaned/serviced for a very long time. Apart from that, it is a lovely camp site and a very reasonable price, especially with those views.
