Sweet Hill Farm

We absolutely loved our stay at Sweet Hill Farm and can’t wait to come back. The location is incredible – some of the very best of Portland is literally on your doorstep. Amazing views from sunrise to sunset. The staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful - and they serve a cracking breakfast butty, to boot! Reading some of the other reviews on here made me laugh. This is a rural campsite offering nearly wild camping – the clue is in the name! If you’re expecting full holiday park facilities, this probably isn’t the place for you. The portaloos and sawdust loos were absolutely fine and were regularly maintained by the staff throughout our stay. Let’s be honest, it’s usually the people using them that are the problem rather than the people providing them … Every campsite seems to have someone who uses the bathroom and hasn’t the courtesy to clean up after themselves properly! Sinks with running water and hand sanitiser were always available too. Yes, you pay for a hot shower, but that’s made clear on the website before you book. In return, the shower facilities are excellent. If you don’t want to pay, there are free cold showers too. The site was fully booked during our stay - but there was ample room for all. They could have easily increased the numbers for the space available but they obviously don’t want to. It’s a considered approach and it works. If you enjoy getting back to basics, spending your days outdoors and would rather avoid the caravan club crowd, you’ll probably love it here as much as we did. It’s a fantastic base for exploring Portland, and we’ll definitely be back.

Just back from our second visit, we ADORE this campsite - we must do, to drive almost 4 hours for 2 nights. The views are next level. Very reasonably priced & excellent smoothies. We were lucky enough to be there for free live music last night. Everyone is friendly & the vibe is spot on. We had to change the date twice for this trip & nothing was too much trouble. Can't wait to get back!

This gorgeous place is on a farm, surrounded by nature, horses and a short 20 min walk to the lighthouse. I only stayed 1 night and Charlotte was very accommodating and helpful. Letting me park up after the check-in time. They have coin operated showers so take some pound coins. Think I used £2. Portable loos 🚻 in camping fields. They have an onsite cafe with a big variety of food and drinks. You can also buy chicken and duck eggs too! Highly recommend this place for a quiet escape with beautiful scenery. Few upgrades you could make: Bin in showers Area for grey water waste Sign for shower block Sign for safe drinking water 🚰

Easy to find campsite on the Isle of Portland. Stunning sunset views and good access to local hiking. Although the only reason I give 4/5 is because I went just over a month ago after the bank holiday weekend and instead of composting toilets there were portable plastic loos which I really don’t enjoy, which I’m sure they only used for the busy bank holiday but the smell of the hot plastic and waste just throws me off ahah. Apart from that lovely stay, great to see the horses people taking them out, hosts were LOVELY when I pulled up very helpful and chatty. Overall great place, would definitely come back!
