About Meadow View Country Park

Tucked into the Dorset countryside near Horton, Meadow View Country Park strikes a nice balance between relaxed, no-frills camping and a few creature comforts. The sprawling site accommodates everyone from traditional tent campers on its 300 non-electric grass pitches to those preferring a bit more shelter in glamping pods, safari tents or a shepherd's hut—all dog-friendly, so the whole family can come along. Campfires are allowed, adding to the laid-back atmosphere, and facilities cover the basics: showers, toilets, drinking water and WiFi.

It's open year-round, making it a handy base for exploring Dorset's market towns and countryside trails in any season. Some visitors note the site can feel a touch tired in places, but the welcoming vibe and genuine sense of space more than compensate for most.

We had such a lovely and peaceful stay at Meadow View Country Park – the setting is beautiful, so quiet, and we slept wonderfully. The pod was fabulous! The country park is already gorgeous, and it’s exciting to see the potential with the works in progress – it’s clear the country park will only get better and better. Side note regarding the building works, we were not disturb by any works being carried out. We’re looking forward to returning, both just as a couple and also with our children to try the Safari tents. Family friendly, dog friendly, brilliant!

We had a really great time here. Tim and Pete made us feel welcome, and were really helpful, and considerate about the pitch they gave us. We were here in a quiet time (not when schools were off) and the facilities were ample, but it might be more challenging in school breaks with not many facilities available. We found showers to be consistently hot, which was great. The lake at the bottom is a pleasant thing to have on site too. Be aware that refreezing ice packs is 50p per ice pack; we used two a day, which worked out to £1/day on top of other charges. Worth being aware of in advance! Would definitely consider staying here again.

Stayed here for one night whilst on a cycle trip. I told Peter (the site manager) I would be there at 5 - unfortunately I arrived quite a bit later than that, but Peter was still around to sign me in. He showed me where I could put my tent (a lovely quiet spot at the top of the field, with a beautiful view). The campsite was very peaceful and well looked after. The toilets and showers were spotless. Was a pleasure to stay, and would definitely stay again.

Stayed here for one week and the shower cubicle wasn't cleaned once! As it had the same greasy grime on the walls from the first day to the last, also be warned we had four different mobile networks within our family and not one of them could get reception in any part of the site and with the lack of wifi it made planning a day out or going for something to eat a lot harder than it could have been on a site better equipped. The staff all seemed to have a bit of a chip on their shoulder for some reason too. And with the lack of anything for the children to do, no play area not even a slide, it's safe to say we won't be returning for a second visit. Nicely kept grass though.
