About Moonfleet Farm

Moonfleet Farm offers something increasingly rare: proper countryside peace on a working sheep farm near Higher Ansty, yet you're only half an hour from the Dorset coast and main attractions. Kids can roam the fields, dogs can stretch their legs in designated areas, and keen anglers will find on-site ponds stocked with rudd, roach, barbel, crucian carp, tench and perch (day and weekly tickets available). A 10-minute walk along the old smugglers' footpath leads to the village shop and pub—perfect for provisioning before an evening around the campfire, watching sunset light spill across the Blackmore Vale.

Facilities punch above their weight for a small site: the shower and toilet block has underfloor heating and free hairdryers, there's free wifi and a laundry with complimentary washing machine, plus an electric car charging point. With miles of local walks threading the surroundings and a genuine farm atmosphere, Moonfleet strikes a fine balance between rural seclusion and creature comforts.

We stayed in Laurie, the converted horse box, with two bold white horses and a field of sheep for company! It was surprisingly spacious for a family of four (2adults, 6 and 3) and the kids had plenty of space to run around and do their thing outside. Cooking facility was good (micro oven and hob) with a good sized fridge and hot and cold running water. The Wood burner took the chill off the cooler evenings. Clive and Linda were very laid back, check in was simple, drive to the location and message to let them know you were here. They were responsive to messages and queries despite obviously being busy (on the working farm). We made use of the exercise pool, an amazing hot tub type pool, with a powerful jet to swim against if you desired. When we were there the room it was in was a bit of a building site, the finished article will be amazing! Location was great for walks, the local village has a nice pub and a farm shop and is about a 10 mins walk away across fields, or a two minute drive away. Overall it was a lovely stay, despite the copious amounts of rain we experienced. Would highly recommend.

Moonfleet is our favorite place. Run by a wonderful family who are friendly and helpful. Facilities kept clean. You will see the most stunning sunsets here if no cloud cover and so many stars and planets

Beautiful, campsite with great amenities and friendly staff. We were camping in our van, and the owners made us feel most welcome. The site is peaceful and great for relaxing. We were there with friends and there was plenty of space for us to catch up, without being too close to other guests. The animals on site were an added bonus, and a great pub within walking distance too. We will definitely be back, It's probably the best place we have stayed in Dorset!

I've just returned from a 5 day stay camping here, and it was perfect. The site was clean and well maintained. The owners were very polite and helpful and would spend time to chat. The fishing ponds that they have on site are pristine, just a shame I didn't get to fish them. The area is great for walking and cycling with nice pubs dotted around. I'll be back next year!
