Bailey Ridge Farm Cottages - Cowleaze

Sherborne and its surroundings reward exploration on foot: footpaths crisscross the Blackmore Vale, and the chalk giant carved into the hill at Cerne Abbas lies within reach. Dorchester, Weymouth and Monkey World are all short drives away, as are Bovington Tank Museum and various water sports at Halstock Reservoir. The historic market town itself, 5 miles off, has a castle and abbey worth the visit.

Cowleaze is a converted stone barn on a working farm, sleeping six across three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The ground floor holds a living room with Freeview TV, a dining room, and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms (one ensuite with shower) and a third bedroom with singles; the main bathroom has a bath with shower. The garden and patio are shared with other cottages on the farm, as is the utility room where you'll find a washing machine and tumble dryer.

Parking for three cars comes with the property. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if needed, and a welcome pack on arrival. The farm keeps beef cattle, sheep and chickens, which younger guests often enjoy. No smoking throughout.

Excellent cottage stay in an easily-found location with good roads, great facilities and provision for kiddos. Lots of DVDs and some toys available, as well as good laundry facilities and a cot. The cottage was beautifully finished and furnished, warm & cosy. I'd definitely come back as I liked this part of the county. The nearby towns are lovely and the roads aren't too stressful!

Wriggle view is a wonderful place to stay, supurb cottage spotlessly clean, very well equipped a real find. We really enjoyed our stay, the children fell in love with the animals, wanted to take them home!

Stayed for a week with family in Cowleaze, one of the three cottages on a working farm, and we really enjoyed it. The owners were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The cottage was really comfortable and had everything we needed to eat and stay in during the dark evenings. We did venture out a couple of times at night but discovered that some of the local pub restaurants closed quite early so we drove into Sherborne (12 - 15 mins away) instead. We also discovered there were plenty of places to enjoy lunch in Sherborne. Some of the rural approach roads are quite narrow and passing other vehicles was a bit tricky. We visited a number of different locations, such as Glastonbury town and Tor, Clarkes Village, the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Lulworth Cove, Chesil Beach and Monkey World. We would happily stay here again.

This is a really really nice place. Chickens out the front, sheep out the back. An epic garden with an amazing view. Great walks around the countryside and really high standard lodging. We came here when we only had Bella our daughter and this place really is kid friendly. Highly recommend this place.
