Bailey Ridge Farm Cottages - Jolliffe

Photo: H

Jolliffe is a ground-floor cottage on Bailey Ridge Farm, a family-run holding with beef cattle, sheep and chickens. The setting works well for walking and wildlife-spotting in the Blackmore Vale. The owners welcome guests to interact with the animals on the farm, which appeals particularly to families with children.

The cottage sleeps four across two bedrooms—a double on the first floor and two singles downstairs—with a shower room and an open-plan kitchen and living space. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer. Bed linen, towels, heating and Wi-Fi are all included. There's a shared laundry room with a coin-operated dryer, and a large shared garden with patio and barbecue. Parking on site takes two cars. You'll need to be a non-smoker.

Sherborne, a market town with a castle and abbey, lies five miles away. Dorchester, with its museums, is ten miles off. The Jurassic Coast and Weymouth are within reach for a day out, and various outdoor activities—fishing, golf, water sports—are available in the wider area.

Excellent cottage stay in an easily-found location with good roads, great facilities and provision for kiddos. Lots of DVDs and some toys available, as well as good laundry facilities and a cot. The cottage was beautifully finished and furnished, warm & cosy. I'd definitely come back as I liked this part of the county. The nearby towns are lovely and the roads aren't too stressful!

Wriggle view is a wonderful place to stay, supurb cottage spotlessly clean, very well equipped a real find. We really enjoyed our stay, the children fell in love with the animals, wanted to take them home!

Stayed for a week with family in Cowleaze, one of the three cottages on a working farm, and we really enjoyed it. The owners were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The cottage was really comfortable and had everything we needed to eat and stay in during the dark evenings. We did venture out a couple of times at night but discovered that some of the local pub restaurants closed quite early so we drove into Sherborne (12 - 15 mins away) instead. We also discovered there were plenty of places to enjoy lunch in Sherborne. Some of the rural approach roads are quite narrow and passing other vehicles was a bit tricky. We visited a number of different locations, such as Glastonbury town and Tor, Clarkes Village, the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Lulworth Cove, Chesil Beach and Monkey World. We would happily stay here again.

This is a really really nice place. Chickens out the front, sheep out the back. An epic garden with an amazing view. Great walks around the countryside and really high standard lodging. We came here when we only had Bella our daughter and this place really is kid friendly. Highly recommend this place.
