Bailey Ridge Farm Cottages - Wriggle View

Photo: H

Sherborne and its surroundings draw visitors for the medieval castle, abbey and market-town character—but base yourself at Wriggle View, one of three converted stone barns at Bailey Ridge Farm, and you'll find quieter appeal in the Blackmore Vale countryside itself. This property sleeps 8 across four bedrooms and three bathrooms, arranged in an unusual layout: ground floor holds the bedrooms (one with a zip-and-link bed, one with two singles, two with king beds and ensuite facilities), while the first floor opens into a large living space with kitchen, dining and sitting areas.

The kitchen is properly equipped for self-catering—electric oven, hob, dishwasher and the rest—and the ground floor also includes a utility room with a shared coin-operated tumble dryer and bike storage. Upstairs, the open-plan living area has a television and DVD player. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. There's private parking for four cars and a shared garden with patio and barbecue. The farm itself keeps cattle, sheep and chickens; you're welcome to explore and let children see the animals. Smoking is not permitted inside. Dorchester, with its museums, lies 10 miles away; Pets Haven is nearby if you need supplies or services.

Excellent cottage stay in an easily-found location with good roads, great facilities and provision for kiddos. Lots of DVDs and some toys available, as well as good laundry facilities and a cot. The cottage was beautifully finished and furnished, warm & cosy. I'd definitely come back as I liked this part of the county. The nearby towns are lovely and the roads aren't too stressful!

Wriggle view is a wonderful place to stay, supurb cottage spotlessly clean, very well equipped a real find. We really enjoyed our stay, the children fell in love with the animals, wanted to take them home!

Stayed for a week with family in Cowleaze, one of the three cottages on a working farm, and we really enjoyed it. The owners were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The cottage was really comfortable and had everything we needed to eat and stay in during the dark evenings. We did venture out a couple of times at night but discovered that some of the local pub restaurants closed quite early so we drove into Sherborne (12 - 15 mins away) instead. We also discovered there were plenty of places to enjoy lunch in Sherborne. Some of the rural approach roads are quite narrow and passing other vehicles was a bit tricky. We visited a number of different locations, such as Glastonbury town and Tor, Clarkes Village, the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Lulworth Cove, Chesil Beach and Monkey World. We would happily stay here again.

This is a really really nice place. Chickens out the front, sheep out the back. An epic garden with an amazing view. Great walks around the countryside and really high standard lodging. We came here when we only had Bella our daughter and this place really is kid friendly. Highly recommend this place.
