had a really pleasant time visiting the Home of Rest for Old Horses. it was an easy bus ride from Douglas where we were based on our holiday, and the volunteers/staff were super friendly and easy to talk to. we bought some food to feed the horses with and there is also a range of items in the gift shop, and a cafe serving very freshly baked cakes among other things. definitely recommend a visit as a calm, grounding activity to do on a holiday on the Isle of Man

Great place to come and relax, meet and feed the horses and donkeys. Staffed by great people, good cafe and shop too. The world needs more places like this, a natural aide to mental health not to mention the value to the lives of the equines themselves.

It is great to see the retired horses being looked after so well, and they know how to get their treats from the visitor's, I had a great time it was well worth the visit. It is free to go there, but donations are wellcome. There is pleanty parking and has a gift shop and a lovely cafe, all the staff are extremely welcoming, many thanks to all of them.

absolutely totally loved and awed by this place.. there were more than 40 horses.. BUT unfortunately the place was closed..
