West Lodge is a ground-floor cottage on Arbigland Farm, a few miles from Dumfries in Dumfries and Galloway. Everything you need for a self-catering break is built in: the kitchen has a full electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge and microwave; heating is provided; bed linen and towels are laid out; wi-fi is live; and parking for two cars is on site. One dog is welcome, though they must stay on lead as this is a working farm.
The layout is open plan, with a living area, dining space and kitchen flowing together. Bedroom one has a king bed, bedroom two has two single beds, and the bathroom combines a bath with a shower over it. A welcome pack arrives with you, and initial fuel for the wood burner is included. A travel cot, highchair and fireguard are available on request. The back garden has furniture and a barbecue.
The setting matters here. The lodge sits within the Arbigland Estate, close enough to the shoreline that you can walk to Carse Bay. The locality suits families wanting to explore the Solway Firth's beaches and countryside, and the John Paul Jones Birthplace Cottage is nearby. No smoking indoors.

What guests say
Lovely wooded areas with a wide variety of mature trees, combined with more formal garden spaces. The Broadwalk leads down to a quiet beach with views towards the Lake District hills. The present owners are still restoring parts of the garden to their former glory. Entry charge is only £6, inclusive of a single-sheet garden map and guide to its main features.

A beautiful and peaceful place. The walk to the beach is stunning.,nature at its finest. The Japanese garden was tranquil with the beautiful sound of wooden wind chimes. The beach is wonderful and I highly reccomend a visit. Entry is £6.00 per person and worth every bit of it
