Coastguard’s Cottage
Dumfries and Galloway
Coastguard's Cottage works well for couples or small families wanting a genuine break by the coast. The two bedrooms—one with a king bed, one with two singles—sleep up to four, and there's a single bathroom with a bath and shower. Downstairs you have a living and dining room with a smart TV and electric fire; the kitchen is equipped for everyday cooking with an oven, hob, microwave and washer-dryer. Electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. The cottage sits at the end of a small terrace in Carsethorn, a quiet village within reach of Dumfries, with free parking nearby and a pub next door.
What makes this place distinctive is its position overlooking the water and the enclosed garden with seating—genuinely rare at this price point in a working village. The immediate appeal is obvious: walk straight out to a beach or coastal path, or stay put with views across the Solway. Longer trips can take in the Galloway Forest Park, the Dark Sky Park near Kirkcudbright, or the golf courses and gardens scattered across Dumfries and Galloway. Carsethorn itself has a gentle, historical feel. Smoking is not permitted inside.
