Farm Holidays - The Byre
Dumfries and Galloway
Photo: Google Maps
Dumfries and Galloway's countryside is quiet and open, with long views across farmland. The Byre sits within that landscape as a detached barn conversion, its rooms arranged across two floors to sleep six people comfortably. The ground floor holds the main living quarters: a single open space that combines kitchen, dining and sitting areas under vaulted ceilings, with full-length glazed doors that open onto a wrap-around patio. Two bedrooms are also on the ground floor—one with a king bed and ensuite shower, the other a king with a separate bathroom. Upstairs, a third bedroom contains two single beds and its own toilet.
The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking; the sitting area has a smart TV and electric fire. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are included. Outside, an enclosed garden has a lawn, patio furniture and a gas barbecue. Parking for three cars sits on the property, and there is bike storage. One dog stays free. The house is non-smoking. Arrival is after 15:00 and departure before 10:00.
This is a place to settle in for a week rather than pass through—the dark skies are clear at night, the patio heater works on cooler evenings, and the surrounding area suits walking. Castle Douglas, a market town, is minutes away by car.
