High Kirkland Holiday Cottages: The Byre

The Byre is a stone conversion set on open farmland with views toward the Galloway Hills. All rooms sit on the ground floor: a sitting room with dual-aspect windows, a well-fitted kitchen, two bedrooms (one kingsize, one with zip-and-link singles), and a bathroom with bath and shower. Oil heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. A private hot tub overlooks the garden, and there is parking for two cars.

Kirkcudbright town centre lies within walking distance. The harbour, galleries, independent shops and restaurants cluster around the historic high street; MacLellan's Castle ruins are also nearby. The area draws artists and visitors year-round, with events including a summer Tattoo. Further afield, Galloway Forest Park and mountain bike trails offer outdoor options, and Threave Gardens is accessible as a day trip.
