Martha’s Shore Cottage

Martha's Shore Cottage is a single-storey cottage dating from around 1700, built for a fisherman and later home to generations of an artistic family. It sits on its own with views across the Solway Estuary, positioned where the landscape opens toward salt marshes and estuarine wildlife. One dog is welcome. The property is wholly yours for the duration of your stay, with a private garden and on-site parking.

Ground-floor living means three bedrooms and three bathrooms without stairs—a king bed with ensuite, two further bedrooms with single beds and ensuites, plus a separate toilet. The kitchen is equipped for self-catering with a dishwasher and full-sized fridge. A wood-burning stove heats the main living room, and there's a covered patio opening directly onto the garden. Ramps provide access to the entrance and through the property. Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels, heating and the initial fire logs are included in your booking.

Dumfries lies 3 miles away with shops and restaurants. Caerlaverock Castle, known for its wildfowl populations, is nearby; the Solway Firth and sandy beaches are easily reached. Quieter roads run through the area for cycling, and riverside walks begin from the garden itself. A village shop and pub are half a mile distant.
