Montys sits above a functioning public bar on Castle Douglas's main street—the bar downstairs is part of the deal, not something to work around. The flat itself spans two floors and holds three bedrooms: one with a zip-and-link bed and a single, another with the same arrangement, and a third with three singles. Two bathrooms service the space, along with a separate toilet. This works for groups of friends or extended family who want to stay together and potentially use the bar socially, though it's equally fine if you prefer to keep to yourselves.
The living room has a television; the kitchen is equipped with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer, so cooking proper meals is straightforward. Heating is gas-fired. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels come as standard. One well-behaved pet stays free. There is on-road parking, and the entrance involves 12 steps.
Castle Douglas itself has cafés and shops within walking distance. The town park with its loch and children's play area is nearby. Street-lights Coffee House is close by. No smoking inside. Check-in is after 15:00, check-out before 11:00.

Staff are lovely and welcoming. Helped us out with taxi numbers due to having an event and not knowing the area and even gave recommendations for places to eat etc. Overall great experience thank you.

Visiting Castle Douglas, we popped in for a quick pint and ended up staying hours 😆 The owner and staff made us feel really welcome. Best bar in town! 👍

If your in Castle Douglas this is a great place for a libation, the staff are friendly and the patrons are keen to greet you in a friendly fashion with some great craic. Pool table 🎱 and darts 🎯 for the sportier folk and sports on the box for the more leisurely drinkers. You’ll enjoy… 🎶 👂 🍻 🍹

When visiting castle douglas over the weekend we stayed in the accomadation above montys bar, Which was absolutely fantastic, fresh and clean, using traditional method and antimicrobial ULV Sprayer to protect from covid infection daily and when necessary. There are three different rooms each set up to a High standard with key lock and smart tvs, a shared sitting room and kitchen with all appliances including washing machine, dish washer and usb plug sockets. On the ground floor is the bar, Which is one of the oldest in the small town but it has a modern and fresh decor and the owners couldn't be more lovely people it was a really pleasure to meet and get to know them and many of the other local in the friendly, lively atmosphere. I am already looking forward to our next visit. I couldn't fault any part of our stay from cost to how welcome we we're made to feel. The town itself had all you could need with in walking distance from montys bar from shops and cafes to swimming pool and a loch with some fantastic history of hangings and the dumping of Bodies. There is also beach views a few miles in one direction and hills sides to explore in the other. Should you be in the area i really would call in and have a drink or if you need a place to stay this is the one to go to. Many thanks Eric and Mary.
