What guests say
The good: location to Pittencrieff park … feet away! Walk to the other highlights: Dunfermline Palace and Abbey and Andrew Carnegie’s birthplace all within a very short walk. The lobby is nice. Dining room ok but no ambiance. The terrace and glassed dining room overlook a parking lot. Food was good but nothing to rave about. The best was steak mushroom and onion panini. Huge portions. The bad: room 21 is up 37 stairs.. doable but a lot! However the wall shared with room 22 is paper thin. I could hear the guests walk, have conversations, sneeze, etc and this am their alarm nearly jumped me from the bed.. a harsh wake up at 6:30am.. I thought it was a fire alarm it was so loud and right by my head! The sink is right next to glass of the shower. So close, my elbow would hit the glass every time I brushed my teeth! The ceilings slant radically in the bathroom and bed, expected in an old building but do watch your head! The room is right above a very busy street also. Glad I had my ear plugs. Do all you can not to stay in this room!!! Friendly staff.

A warning to gluten free diners. I have eaten at the City Hotel lots of times with no issues. But I ate there last night 16/12/25) asked and ordered from the gluten free menu. The pasta was obviously not gluten free as four hours later I began throwing up. Now I have no trust and with no return

The cocktails are amazing and hand made. And guess what? You can actually taste the alcohol unlike other places in the town. We booked a table as its very busy at the weekend

Visited The City Hotel today for a family meal for their Christmas menu. We often visit the city for breakfasts or lunch and the food is always top notch. Today was no different with beautiful soup for a starter and roast beef or traditional turkey dinner for the main and other options for both courses. We were catered for perfectly with a couple of members of our group with food allergies and intolerances. The waiting staff were attentive and friendly and made sure we were happy during each course. There were also complementary mince pies with our teas and coffees. One of the waiting staff also offered to take a family photo for us when he saw that we were taking one. That was a really nice gesture. Overall top marks for festive flavour and excellent service from all of the staff. Well recommended for Christmas and at other times of the year.
