Dunfermline, five miles away, was once Scotland's capital and holds the 12th-century abbey where Robert the Bruce is buried alongside ten other kings and queens. The town itself has substantial shops, bars and restaurants. Closer to hand, Cairneyhill village is walkable and has its own pubs, shops and golf club. The Fife Coastal Path runs nearby for access to fishing villages and beaches, while Lochleven—twelve miles off—is known for brown trout fishing. The M90 and M80 motorways connect quickly to Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth and Glasgow.
Ross Cottage is set back from a farm track in a rural spot. The ground floor contains a sitting and dining room with a 40-inch television and DVD player, a kitchen equipped for proper cooking with a gas range, and one double bedroom. A lawned garden with patio and seating surrounds the property, which has parking for two cars and a bike store. Electricity, bed linen and towels are supplied.
