About The Crown At Mickleton
The Crown At Mickleton is a gastropub offering caravan pitches alongside its restaurant and bar. The site sits in the village itself, with Belgrave House just across the way and the Blacksmiths Arms a short walk further on. Parking is ample, and the pitches come with full facilities including showers.
The kitchen turns out Sunday roasts—lamb, roast potatoes and gravy are standouts—alongside desserts that draw praise. The atmosphere is warm and service is attentive. The pitches are well-maintained, and visitors note good value for money. Barnard Castle, a market town with its castle ruin and Bowes Museum, lies just down the road.

This is a first class caravan site which we would highly recommend. We absolutely love it here. The five pitches are well kept , large and have all facilities as required for a relaxed caravan stay. The toilet and shower on site are ,well maintained , adequate and clean. The views around the site and the peaceful environment are very relaxing . We love watching the wild life including the resident thrushes who were enjoying the berries in the hedgerow.Dog walks a plenty and straight from the site. Our dogs love this site! Clear skies for star gazing-truly amazing! When the pub is open the food is fantastic as is the atmosphere with its toasty fires and warm hearths to sit by.(there is another pub in walking distance where food is available should the Crown not be open ) However the crowning glory is the staff. Whoever you speak to they are always accommodating, pleasant and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Andrew went utterly above and beyond to help us out when our caravan electrics had failed in freezing weather on one of our visits. He was so very generous with his time and accommodation. We would absolutely recommend this site . It is always outstanding. It is in addition in a very beautiful part of the country

The Crown at Mickleton is close to my daughter's house so we decided to meet up for lunch. Ample parking was available. We had booked a table. The pub has a certain charm about it. The seating allows for plenty of room. The staff were very welcoming and we were soon seated at our table. Ordering is at the bar. We placed our food order and took our drinks with us back to the table. One of our party has a dairy allergy. As a result she chose not to have mashed potato. Mash is usually prepared with butter or milk, or both. The food service was by no means quick. When our meals arrived, they had placed mashed potato on the wrong plate. It was on the plate it shouldn't have been on. The other order had no mash on it. For ease we scooped the mash potato from one plate to another. Shortly through the meal I asked my fellow diners if they could taste salt in their meal. We couldn't properly identify the culprit. We believe it was the roast potatoes. I dont use salt if I can help it. Its the little things that make all the difference. Today the little things made a difference.

I’m not usually the biggest fan of a Sunday lunch (I know - Sacrebleu!) but as we were passing we decided to pop into The Crown in Mickleton—and I’m so glad we did. Despite it being busy, they kindly found us a table for two, and what followed was easily the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had. The lamb was beautifully tender and generous in portion, the gravy was rich and full of flavour, and the roast potatoes were perfection personified—crispy like glass on the outside and wonderfully fluffy on the inside. To top it all off, the cornflake tart with custard was absolutely to die for. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a great selection of drinks, and the staff were attentive, friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout. We’ll definitely be returning.

Called in for a drink yesterday whilst walking nearby with the dog. Returned today for Sunday Lunch. Wow, one of the best I have had in a long time. Roast Beef dinner followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding. All top quality and served hot. Staff were friendly and attentive. 100% recommended 👍🍺
