Weardale sits at the heart of the North Pennines, and Enginemans Cottage puts you right at the junction where the valley opens out. This former railway cottage on three floors gives families, groups of friends or couples a private base for exploring the area. One well-behaved dog stays free, and there's an enclosed garden with a barbecue and seating.
The ground floor holds a kitchen with electric cooking, dishwasher and everything you need to prepare proper meals, a dining space, a sitting room with a wood-burning stove and Smart TV, and a bathroom with shower over the bath. Upstairs, a bedroom with a kingsize bed, another with a single and a pull-out single, then on the second floor a double with an ensuite toilet and Smart TV. Bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included; heating and electricity are covered too. There's parking for one car and secure storage for bikes. The cottage is no-smoking.
Nearby you'll find the heritage Weardale Railway, Raby Castle and Hamsterley Forest. Walking and cycling routes wind through the valleys, and the North Pennines are made for exploring on foot.
