The Granary sits on a working farm in County Durham's countryside, surrounded by open fields and hills that stretch toward Durham Cathedral. This converted barn has been finished throughout with underfloor heating powered by the farm's own wind turbine, and offers four guests two bedrooms, each with ensuite facilities, plus a full kitchen and open-plan living space with woodburner. One dog stays free. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included, and there is parking for two cars on site and an enclosed garden with patio.
The ground floor contains the kitchen and living area, with French doors opening onto the patio. Upstairs, both bedrooms have zip-and-link super kingsize beds that can be separated into twins if needed, one with an ensuite bath and shower, the other with a wet room. The kitchen is equipped for self-catering, with a range cooker, dishwasher and all the usual appliances. A travel cot and stairgate are provided for younger children.
Walkers and cyclists will find many established paths and public footpaths across the surrounding countryside. Bishop Auckland lies five miles away; Durham Cathedral and the historic city centre are accessible for day trips, as is Barnard Castle with the Bowes Museum nearby. The National Railway Museum at Shildon is 15 minutes' drive, and Stanhope Station, which runs heritage train rides through Weardale, is 25 minutes away. No smoking is permitted inside the property.
