Gilmilnscroft Estate - The Old Stables
East Ayrshire
The Old Stables occupies the upper floor of a Victorian stable conversion at Gilmilnscroft Estate. This one-bedroom, one-bathroom property sits on 80 acres of grounds that include woodland, a pond and shared summer house, with the estate's gardens and walking routes immediately to hand. The building retains its equestrian character—you can still see the original stables below—and the whole place to yourself means you have proper seclusion within the estate setting.
Upstairs, everything centres on comfort and practicality. The open-plan living and kitchen area has a sofa bed and full appliances including a dishwasher and washing machine; the separate bedroom contains a kingsize bed; the bathroom has a bath with shower. Heating and electricity are included, as are bed linen and towels. There is parking for two cars on site and space to store bikes. A pub lies within a mile. The property does not accept children under 13, and guests should be aware of an unfenced stream 100 yards away in the grounds.
The location suits walkers and those interested in local heritage. The River Ayr Way begins nearby with over 40 miles of valley paths; Dumfries House and Auchinleck House are each roughly 3 miles away. The Ayrshire Coastal Path, running for more than 100 miles, is also accessible from here. One dog is welcome.
