Rockenhayne Farmstead - Maple Tree Cottage
East Devon

Maple Tree Cottage is a converted barn set within 60 acres of woodland and meadow on the Rockenhayne Farmstead estate. The property occupies its own grounds near Branscombe village, three miles from the coast, and sits deep in a valley where deer and other wildlife are common. Ground-floor accommodation means the whole place is on one level: an open-plan living space with a woodburner, a separate dining area and kitchen, a bedroom with a king-size bed reached by two steps, and a second bedroom with two single beds. The shower room has a cubicle and toilet. One well-behaved dog stays free.
The kitchen is equipped for cooking – electric oven, gas hob, microwave and fridge – and the property includes wi-fi, bed linen, towels, heating, and initial logs for the fire. Electricity is partly solar-powered, and water comes from a spring on the land. An enclosed garden with furniture and a barbecue is yours to use. Parking for two cars is on site, and the owners can provide a travel cot and highchair on request.
Branscombe itself has two pubs, a shop, tea rooms and a working forge. The village sits at the bottom of a wooded valley and is popular with walkers; many footpaths start from the cottage door. Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and the Jurassic Coast's beaches are within reach by car, and Seaton's tram and the local donkey sanctuary offer alternatives to being outdoors. No smoking inside the cottage.
